Privacy Policy

• Story text you type in.
• Any photo or selfie you upload, used as a character reference for generation.
• The generated movie files produced for your order.
• Order and technical metadata: order reference, chosen treatment, movie title, generation status and timestamps, and payment references returned by Stripe.
• Basic first-party usage analytics: which steps of the flow were reached, described below.

We record a small number of product events so we can see how many people complete each step (for example: page viewed, story started, free poster generated, checkout started, payment completed, movie finished, saved or shared).

• Each event stores only a randomly generated anonymous session identifier created in your browser, the event name, the chosen treatment, the movie version number, and a timestamp.
• We do not store your story text, photo, generated movie, name, email, card details, IP address, or user agent in analytics.
• Where a paid event needs to be linked to an order, we use a one-way hash of the anonymous order reference, not payment or customer data.
• This data is first-party and stored in our own database. We do not use Google Analytics, and we do not sell or share this data for advertising. Advertising measurement is separate, consent-only, and described below.

We advertise Plot Twist on TikTok. So we can tell whether those ads actually work, we measure conversions with the TikTok Pixel and TikTok's Events API — but only if you choose "Accept marketing" in our cookie banner.

• Nothing TikTok-related loads or runs until you accept. If you reject, or ignore the banner, no TikTok script is loaded and no advertising event is sent. The app works exactly the same either way.
• If you accept, the TikTok Pixel sets first-party cookies (such as _ttp) used for attribution, and we store the ttclid click identifier from the ad link you arrived on. These are opaque advertising identifiers, not your identity.
• Events shared with TikTok: PageView (a page was viewed), InitiateCheckout (a checkout was started, value 4.99 GBP), and Purchase (a payment was confirmed, value 4.99 GBP). Purchase is sent from our server only after Stripe confirms the payment, and only once per order.
• We do not intentionally send TikTok your email address, name, phone number, story text, photo, generated movie, or card details. The purchase event uses a one-way identifier derived from our own anonymous order reference, not your Stripe or payment identifiers.
• You can change your choice at any time via the 'Cookie settings' link in the footer. Rejecting stops any further TikTok events from being sent.
• TikTok acts as an independent controller for the advertising data it receives; its own privacy policy applies to that processing.
• We do not use any other advertising or tracking pixels.

Card payments are taken by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's checkout and are handled by Stripe, not by us. We store only the references Stripe returns (such as a checkout session and payment identifier) and the payment status.

To create your movie, your story text and uploaded photo are sent to Google AI services (Vertex AI, including Gemini for story direction and Veo for video generation), which process them on our behalf. Hosting, database and file storage are provided by our platform infrastructure provider.

• To create and deliver the movie you ordered.
• To process your payment and keep a record of the order.
• To prevent abuse, fraud, and misuse of the service.
• To respond to customer support requests.
• To measure, in aggregate, how many people complete each step of the flow so we can improve the product.
• Where you have accepted marketing cookies, to measure whether our TikTok advertising leads to purchases.
• To meet legal, security, and record-keeping obligations.

Our own usage analytics are anonymous and first-party. The only advertising measurement we run is the TikTok conversion tracking described in section 1b, which requires your consent. We do not sell personal data.

• Generated movies and the associated order record are automatically deleted 7 days after the order is created, by a scheduled daily cleanup job.
• Your uploaded photo and story are used for generation and are not kept as a separate long-term library beyond what is needed for that order.
• Your own browser may keep a temporary copy of your story, photo and last result in local/session storage so an accidental refresh restores your screen. That stays on your device until you start over, clear your browser data, or your browser removes it.
• Anonymous analytics events are aggregate usage records and are kept for product measurement; they contain no story, media, or contact data.
• Payment records held by Stripe are subject to Stripe's own retention and to accounting/legal record-keeping requirements.

Our payment, AI, and hosting providers operate globally, so your data may be processed outside your own country, including in the United States and other regions where those providers run infrastructure.
